Q: Where is your bike hire shop situated ?
A: Our bike hire shop is situated on James Street, Westport right in the centre of Westport town and only minutes away from the Greenway. F28 DY94 Please look up our google maps.
Q: Have you been in this business for long?
A: Yes we are the longest serving bike hire service in the town of Westport for almost 14 years and are one of the first to operate this service . We are family owned and operated.
Q: What about parking and how long can we park?
A: There are 2 large car parks right and left of our shop where you can park securely all day.
Q; How long does it take to do the Greenway?
A: It can take up to 4 ours or more if you want a relaxing cycle and depending on your fitness level or 3 hours on an Electric bike.
Q: What times do you shuttle service leave from your shop?
A: Our shuttle service departs daily from our shop at 9.30 and 12 o clock to Achill via Newport and Mulranny.
Q: How long should it take to get to Achill by shuttle?
A: It usually takes about 40 minutes depending on traffic.
Q: Which way do people usually cycle from?
A: They usually cycle from Achill to Westport as it is easier this way as it is more down hill and the wind is usually at your back.
Q: I’m a little confused on what way the shuttle operates?
A: No problem. Our shuttle departs from our shop on James Street daily at 9.30 and again at 12 noon to Achill. We take you out to Achill, give you your chosen bikes at our Achill store and you cycle to back to Westport and leave the bikes back at our shop on James Street.
Q: Can I also cycle from Your Westport shop and leave the bike at your Achill shop?
A: Yes indeed you can cycle from Westport and leave it in our Achill depot and avail of the public bus service just over the road from our shop.
Q: How long is The Greenway?
A: It is 43km or 26 miles.
Achill to Mulranny = 13km
Mulranny to Newport = 18km
Newport to Westport = 11km.
Q: Do you have a bike shop in Achill?
A: Yes we do right at the start of the Greenway so you don’t even have to cycle on the road..
Q: Can I leave my bike in Newport?
A: Yes you can.
Q: What are your opening hours?
A: Our opening hours are 9 to 6 seven days a week.
Q: Can I book online or over the phone?
A: You can do either and our phones are open all day and night until 10pm.
Q: What if its raining, can I cancel?
A: Of course! We don’t expect anyone to go out in the rain. If the weather is unsuitable, you can cancel or reschedule your booking, provided you give us at least 24 hours’ notice.
Q: Is there a cancellation policy?
A: Yes, there is. There is a 10% booking fee and 24 hours notice for a cancellation and less than 24 hours its non refundable.
Q: What is the best type of bike to cycle The Greenway?
A: Hybrid bikes are the good for The Greenway. Road bikes are not suitable for this. Electric bikes are very popular for young and old. Also we have a supreme Hybrid called a Fujj which are also very popular and are quicker and lighter than a Hybrid
Q: What age is an Electric bike suitable for?
A: From age 16 upwards accompanied by parents. We do not cater for kids on E bikes.
Q: Is a Hybrid bike an Electric bike?
A; No a hybrid is an ordinary standard bike with 21 gears and is non electric.
Q: Do you provide maps, Helmets, Gel saddle covers, Pannier bags and is there an extra charge?
A: Yes we provide all of the above and at no extra cost.
Q: Do you provide roadside assistance if we get a puncture or breakdown?
A: Yes we do. We call out to you on The Greenway and replace you with another bike as quickly as we can. Our phone number is clearly marked on each bike.
Q: Can we hire bikes for a few days or a week or more?
A: Yes we do and for this type of hire we do special discounts.
Q: Do you hire out Electric bikes?
A: Yes we have long range Electric bikes. They are new state of the art German bikes for a fun assisted cycle and with enough battery to assist you both ways on the Greenway.
Q: Can I store my baggage in your shop as I want to cycle light?
A: Yes you can. We will be delighted to help you out.
Q: Are there places near your shop to get essentials for our cycle?
A: Yes there is plenty of shops as we are situated in the centre of Westport. Super Valu is right beside us and you can get ready made sandwiches or paninis or order your own.
Q: Are there places to stop along The Greenway for coffee, lunch etc?
A: Yes there are plenty of lovely places to stop in Achill, Mulranny, Newport for Coffee lunch etc. You will be spoiled for choice.
Q: Do you cater for children too?
A: Yes we do. We have baby trailers suitable from 9 months to 5 years. Tag a longs for kids from 5 to 8 or 9 years. We also have kids 16”, 20” and 24” bikes.
Q: I have not cycled for a while and have not great balance. Do you offer anything suitable?
A: Yes we have adult trikes suitable for anyone who has not cycled for a while and is a little nervous about balance or stability.
Q: Do you have Tandem Bikes?
A: Yes we also have tandems but it is important to book them.
Q: Do I need to book the shuttle service in advance?
A: We strongly suggest you do as soon as you can as it is vital to book your place on the shuttle as our taxis can be booked out. 9 am in the morning at the latest.
Q: Are there toilets along the Greenway?
A: Yes there are porta loos every few kilometers along the Greenway
Q: Do you rent dog trailers?
A: Yes indeed we do. We have dog trailers to cater for your fur friends
Q: What size bikes would you suggest for my kids?
A: This is an approximate size guide you can refer to for your childs size of bike.
